Before you Purchase A Puppy

Adding a new four-legged member to your family is something the entire family needs to be in agreement with before your purchase. It is a lot of work to care for a young puppy. Giving a puppy or dog as a gift is unadvisable because the new owner needs to be in total agreement and prepared for such a big decision.

There is also a lot of work and time involved shopping for that special addition and it should be done not on impulse, but after careful consideration, homework, research, asking questions, and most important not rushing into your purchase.

Then where should you go to purchase that new four-legged member of your family?

I recommend a breeder that Specializes in Dachshunds and understands the AKC standard of what a dachshund should represent in body and temperament.

If in doubt about the breeder you have just visited, then Don't Purchase and always trust your instincts! Not all breeders are alike.

I recommend Breeders that have AKC Dogs. There have been many other registries crop up, such as APRI, ACA, and CKC (Continental Kennel Club). Most Puppy Mills, Commercial Breeders, Backyard Breeders and Pet Stores use these registries.

I Do Not Recommend Any of These.

Puppies are a big investment financially and also involve a good deal of time and energy. You don't want to make it more difficult by buying a sick puppy.

I try to insure that the Puppy or Dog I place is healthy and will give you many years of enjoyment. They will be current on vaccinations, worming and will not leave my premises till they are at least 8 weeks of age or older if need be . Depending on their age they might already be micro-chipped and be on a Heartworm Preventative.

The same way I go by my gut instincts before selling you a puppy, you also should go by your gut instinct before purchasing that new member of your family.
