Shaded Red
Rum arrived to
my home March 12, 2002. He was the most beautiful dachshund puppy I had ever
seen. He came out of his crate so full of life and energy, that you
would never had known he had flown all the way from Australia to Texas,
with a one night lay over in LA.
He quickly became
the love of our lives, to both my husband and myself. He was so spoiled
that at bedtime my husband would rock him to sleep and then place him in
his bed beside his chair. Rum has never experienced quote "a kennel"
life. He is my house pet and the joy of my life.
Rum is everything a
dachshund breeder would want. His conformation is just wonderful. He has
a gorgeous thick coat of creamy red hair. As you can tell I think he is
just about perfect.
My good friend Diane
Southern started training him soon after his arrival for the show world.
She did a wonderful job. She has patience and confidence in her ability
and Rum seemed like a little natural and loved her completely. To this
day he loves Diane and has to sit in her lap when she visits.
Sadly to say that
because of my mistaken trust in another breeder, Rum was abused &
mishandled at a young age while being shown at some Texas Shows. It
broke my heart, but I felt Rum needed love more than the show world. A
quick decision yes, maybe a wrong decision yes, but at the time I did
what I thought was best. Not all the show world acts as this one breeder
did. There are many loving & caring show people.
Rum has produced
some beautiful puppies for me and his breeding has clicked perfectly
with my line. He is now almost 5 years old and I have never once been
disappointed in any dogs he has sired.
Today he is still
the joy & love of my life. He brought me comfort when my husband passed
away. He also rules the clan here and keeps all in line. He is a eager
breeder and has matured into a very sound dachshund.
